In other news...lol. I ended up having to scrap the Day of the Dead story. Just wasn't working and I didn't want to turn in a bad book or a book that I just wasn't happy with. My editor was very understanding. So now I'll be starting a shape-shifter book called Troubled Waters. :) I'm pretty sure it's going to be the first book in a seven book series with the possibility of there being an eighth book eventually. Also, I'm beginning to think about the next Fallen book. Christian's story is going to be a lot darker and more angst-ridden then the first four, so it's going to be a bit more work to get it written without being too over dramatic.

Dance With The Devil

I'm behind on reading Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter books. So I thought I'd re-read my favorite one so far. (yes, I realize this is just an excuse to avoid working on my own story...lol) I have three more to get caught up before her first hardcover DH book comes out in June. Plus I have to read the new MacGregor book.

How is my own ghost story coming? I know that's what you're all thinking. Slowly..very slowly, but with each word I write, I'm getting closer to the end.

I don't think I'll ever sell a book on proposal again. Something in my mind says when I sign the contract, the book is done. That might be why it's so hard for me to focus on RS.

I'm beginning to sound like a broken record. :)

Rearranging...

What does Rob Thomas have to do with rearranging? Nothing..I just think he's cute...lol. Thought I'd add a little eye candy for the ladies to the post today. And something for the guys who might drop by..just so you don't feel left out.

The rearranging has to do with my story for the Day of the Dead anthology I'm part of for Loose-Id. It started out my hero, Benito O'Neill (his mother was Mexican and his father Irish..if you're wondering about the name) was supposed to be a ghost being sent to help my heroine, Amada. Well, I started working on it and hit a huge brick wall. Nothing was working. So I whined to my wonderful editor and she said to change things if I needed to. Now Benito is alive and well..not a ghost. Hopefully this little change will help me get over the wall and start flying on this story. :)

Can You Believe It?

I went into Best Buy to pick up blank cds and dvds. I always browse the movie/TV section to see if the store has finally gotten in Season Two and Four of Due South...lol. To my utter surprise, I saw this wonderful set on the shelf. Finally. I've been waiting for this show to come out on dvd.

I admit it..I'm a geek. I totally loved this show while it was airing originally. I mean who wouldn't love five hot young actors portraying those wonderful Pony Express riders and Brett Cullen as Marshall Sam..oh yum.

So while I chatted with Paige, I watched the first disc. So no words got written on Returning Spirits last night, but I've decided to ditch pretty much the entire 2800 words I have done and start again. Maybe the rearranged plot ideas will help jumpstart this story...because it's creating a logjam. There are a ton of characters crowding my mind and they want their stories told. But I can't do anything until Amada and Benito's story gets written.

Next, my fourth book in the FALLEN series, Danielle, has been listed for a while now as the 2nd highest rated book at Fictionwise
I'm happy about that.

Well, nothing much got done on Returning Spirits (my ghost story) last night. It's a short story that's slated for a Day of the Dead anthology from Loose-Id coming out this fall.

The good news is I'm working my way through my first set of edits for The Veil: Heaven & Hell. Those should go fairly quick. I hope any way. :) But I guess it gives me one more excuse to waste time and not have to fight with these stubbon characters.

Clock is Ticking

The clock has started ticking on this story. Argh! Ghosts are the most uncooperative creatures in the world..lol.

I wrote 292 words last night. So that takes me up to an amazing 2,852 total. All right..only 32,148 left to go. :)

Worked out again this morning. My arms are dying...lol...but at least I'll be toned and I'll probably lose weight as well since I can't lift my arms.

What does the Day of the Dead have to do with a sunny day in March? Nothing much except that I'm finding it hard to get in the mood to write my DotD story. It's a ghost story and I think it can be really good. Just need a little push to get into it. I've started it..got 2k done on it. Of course, that leaves me 33k left to write. Yikes! I want it finished far ahead of its deadline.

Guess I need to find some scary movies to watch to get me in the mood. Trouble is, I don't like horror movies or scary movies for that matter.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I can jumpstart my story?

As strange as it might sound, I find this fascinating. He gets a chance at having his case heard by a parole board, but it's so highly unlikely that he'll be granted parole. The poor man has to know this. He's in prison for murdering one of the most famous people in American history. Plus RFK's neice is married to the Governor of CA. No way is it possible Sirhan Sirhan will see the light of day without bars again.

Not only has Kirby Puckett died at 45. Now Dana Reeves is dead at 44 from lung cancer.

Now if you know anything about baseball, you know Kirby played for the Minnesota Twins and was a good role model for young players until his career was cut short by an eye disease. He was struck down by a stroke. He'll be sorely missed.

Dana Reeves came to the forefront of the public eye when her husband, Christopher Reeves, sustained a paralysing neck injury during a fall from a horse. She stood by him in his fight for spinal cord research. After she lost him, she was diagnosed with lung cancer. She lost her fight with that terrible disease.

Prayers go out to both families. Your loved ones made the world a better place for the brief moment they were here.

I came home tonight to find the door handle on my front door had broken. So I call my dh and ask him how exactly I was supposed to get inside. He says "Oh, I meant to tell you it broke this morning." Thanks, dear.

I got inside after a little breaking and entering. Tear the door knob apart trying to fix it. Found out a thingie on the inside was broke, so headed to the local hardware store for a new knob. By the time my dh came home from work, I had the new door knob on. All he had to do was tighten the screws.

It's been a long time since I posted last. I'm sorry...blame my publishers who would like to see new stories from me as often as possible...lol.

Well, I have a new release. It came out on Jan. 31st at Liquid Silver Books. I'm pretty excited about it. Straight erotic contemp. No paranormal elements. Have to try different genres. I don't want to get stuck in a box or be sterotyped. Don't worry, I'm not going to stop writing paranormals. Those are the books I love to read, so those are going to be the ones I write the most.

I've got a couple great reviews for Celeste, William and Danielle. I'll be posting snippets of them later today when I dig them up.

I'm working on Returning Spirits, a novella for Loose-Id, my other publisher. Hopefully the story will be done no later than the end of March. :)

Over the New Year's weekend, I went to see King Kong. Good movie. They did a wonderful job on Kong. Of course, I cried...lol.

Last night, my dh and I drove almost two hours to find a movie theatre showing Brokeback Mountain. Omg...best 2005 movie I've seen and I've seen all the big blockbusters. Stunning scenery and gripping acting by Ledger and Gyllenhaal. All the nominations this movie has gotten are well-deserved and hopefully they'll win some because this movie is overwhelming in all areas.

Falling down on the job

Sorry I haven't updated this for a while. :( Got busy with the holidays and writing. Some stories took over and I needed to get some stuff finished. :)

First great news.... A Faerie Tale has finaled in the 2006 EPPIE contest for best Anthology. :) Woo-Hoo! I'm sure you don't think I seem very excited, I am really. You just can't see me doing the Snoopy dance around my house....lol. We'll know if we won on March 18th when they announce the winners at the convention. Unfortunately I won't be able to attend...have to save my vacation days for the RT convention in May.

I got a great review for THE VEIL: ANGELS & DEMONS from Dawn at Love Romances. She gave me 4.5 hearts out of 5 and said "The Veil: Angels and Demons is truly one of this year’s great fantasy books!"

I've Had Enough

It's cold here and I'm already tired of it. I need to convince my dh to move South for the winter. I imagine he'd be happy with it because then he could golf all year round. :)

I'm in the middle of writing a contemporary about a contract killer who comes home to find her roommate murdered. She's willing to do anything to find out who the shooter was. :) Tentatively titled The Rose's Thorn, but I'm already working on a different title. I'm 23k into it and I'm planning on it being around 85k. Ambitious of me, I know, considering the longest book I've written so far has been Fallen: Danielle at 51k.

I was thinking today as I listen to my Ipod mini...do my stories have theme songs? I know authors who create entire soundtracks for each of their books. Great idea. But I don't usually listen to just one cd per story.

Then I realized that each of my stories so far has a song that goes with them. A song that when I hear it, I think of the story. So I made a list...lol. Can you tell I'm trying to avoid work?

Where did November go? Unbelievable how fast this year seems to be going. :)

Well, didn't get the next scene for Plain Jane done over the weekend, but got some other stuff worked on. I have two set of interview questions that I have to answer and send out. *biting lip* What was I thinking? I actually have to try and sound interesting enough that people might want to come and check out my books. lol

Probably mentioned this at some point earlier, but I have three books contracted for next year already...woo-hoo! One I'll start edits on this week, hopefully. SACKING THE QUARTERBACK comes out on Jan. 30th from Liquid Silver Books. :) I sent in the contract and the actual book for THE VEIL: HEAVEN & HELL to Loose-Id. That one's scheduled for Summer 2006. I have to start writing RETURNING SPIRITS. It's a short story to be put in an anthology with two other popular Loose-Id authors. That's scheduled for Fall 2006.

It's exciting to think I'm starting to get a coming-soon list that has more than one book on it...lol Of course, I have to update my website...which is going to get done tonight even if I have to tie my dh to the chair...lol

My thoughts and prayers are with Detroit Red Wings Defenseman Jiri Fischer and his family today. Jiri suffered a siezure last night while on the bench during the Nashville Pedators/Red Wings game in Detroit. His heart stopped and CPR had to be administered. The news is good. He's alert and in stable condition today.

It's scary when something like that happens. Definitely makes you thankful for your life and everything good or bad that's part of it.

So say a prayer for Jiri and thank whatever higher power you might believe in that you're alive today.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. This past week has been crazy at my day job. We've been decorating for the holidays. I know...I know. It isn't even Thanksgiving yet, but my city has a big PRIDE parade to kick off the holiday season and the museum I work for has a big party for the kids afterwards, so everything has to be lit and decorated. Thank goodness next week is a short work...lol

Well, FALLEN: DANILLE is out. Yeah...lol. Came out on Monday, but I've already got some reader feedback and so far everyone seems to have loved it which makes me happy. Plus they're already asking me about Christian (who is the next fallen I'm going to write about).

I finished THE VEIL: HEAVEN & HELL. Sent it to a test reader and my CP. Hopefully, I'll hear back from both of them soon...lol. Earlier this month or last month (when ever I started writing H&H) I sent my editor a synopsis and the first three chapters of it. She sent me an email the other day with my contract for it. Even though she doesn't have the actual book in hand....lol. She does know it's finished and she'll be getting it soon. I'm thrilled about that...now I just have to write up a blurb and fill out the cover art form. Yikes! I haven't thought about either yet.

Oh also, I just got another great review for ANGELS & DEMONS at Romance Reviews Today. Belinda S. Mays, the reviewer, gave it a Perfect 10. YAY! I've been getting awesome reviews for this book. And readers have told me how much they enjoyed it as well. So I'm thrilled that Loose-Id decided to publish it.

Beauty & The Beast

Actually, I'm talking about the 1980s tv show and not the Disney movie. I got thinking yesterday about it and why I enjoyed it. I even had the soundtrack to it. :) I loved all the music and Ron Pearlman reciting all those poems was wonderful. Because I was wasting time yesterday instead of writing or doing any other work, I searched out those poems. Some of the best poets in the world-Shakespeare, William Wordsworth, e.e. cummings, Lord Byron, Shelley and Frost. But my all-time favorite poet had two on the soundtrack.

Ranier Maria Rilke wrote during the early 1900s, in German. He travelled through out Europe. Probably his most famous 'book' is LETTERS TO A YOUNG POET in which a young poet sent Ranier some poems asking for his critique and advice. Ranier wrote back and in those ten letters, he touches the heart with his lyrical words and pure rhythm of his thoughts. While it's good advice for any writer or poet to take, his words can also be used as a template for life at its most basic. Rilke found strength in his solitude and understood that we all must find acceptance in being alone before we can accept the presence of others in our lives.

I loved B&B because it was the ultimate love story. Catherine loved Vincent, not because of what he looked like, but because of his heart. She could see the human needs behind the animal outside. Any reader of shape-shifter books will tell you that's what makes the book. The total acceptance between the lovers. :)

If you ever get a chance, read Rilke's LETTERS TO A YOUNG POET and think on the tale of BEAUTY & THE BEAST. Maybe you'll find comfort in your own solitude so you'll be able to find joy in another person.

“Well. Jane, it depends on what you’re talking about.”

Her eyes shot to mine and I saw the ‘oh fuck’ look in them. She obviously wasn’t expecting to see my face.
“Mr. Anderson,” she stammered.

Cringing, I remembered how much I hated hearing that. ‘Mr. Anderson’ always reminded me of those Matrix movies.

“Ms..”

Oh hell, what was her last name? I’d stared at her ass for months now and I couldn’t even think of her last name. It started with a ‘V’..Van Poppel.

“Ms. Van Poppel.” I congratulated myself on not looking like a complete idiot. “What are you talking about?” It was the flirt and the jerk in me that had to tease her. I never would have thought she’d hit on me like that.
She seemed to be struggling with her natural shyness. Subtle wasn’t a trait I could claim having any knowledge of, but I figured I’d let her off the hook before she turned and ran. This was the first chance I had to say anything more than ‘hi’ to her.

“Here to work out?”

Well, it hadn’t taken long for me to ask a stupid question. She’s not here to look at your naked ass, I thought. What else would she be doing up in the gym after hours?

Jane’s green eyes dropped back to where my jeans barely covered my cock. I hadn’t gotten around to zipping them up. Seeing the flare of lust burst in her gaze, the imp in me decided to tease her a little more. I tucked my thumbs in my front pockets, framing my growing hard-on with my hands.

“Um, yes. I didn’t think anyone was still around,” she murmured, the pink tip of her tongue peeking out to wet her lips.

My dick jumped at the thought of that tongue tracing a pattern over the length of it. Down, boy, I ordered. Jane wasn’t the type of woman I could pick up for a night of fun. She was the best graphic designer the company had. I couldn’t risk fucking her and if the relationship went sour, I didn’t want her to quit. Which was the only reason I hadn’t approached her before this.

“Have you been working out more? Your clothes seem baggier.”

Her eyes widened and I realized I just admitted I checked her out. Winking at her, I decided it might not hurt to give a hint or two of being interested. Who knew? Maybe she could be the one it would work out with. God knew I was getting tired of the one-night stands and the shallow women who dated me just for my money.

I moved closer to her. I wasn’t in any hurry to leave now. Flirting with Jane was more fun than heading home for cold leftovers and Monday Night Football. Her breathing sped up when she realized she was trapped between the door and me.

“Why don’t you work out during the day? It’s safer than walking out to the garage after dark.” Reaching out, I braced one hand on the door and leaned in even closer.

“I don’t like people watching. Since it’s just you, Mr. Cooper and those two Barbie dolls using it, I figured I’d be okay after hours.” She couldn’t seem to lift her eyes above my chest.

Having a woman staring at my chest was a new experience for me and I found it was turning me on even more than her staring at my crotch. “Barbie dolls? Oh, you mean Brandy and Jessica.” I laughed. “That’s a good description of them. If Brandy gets any more work done, her breasts could be used for life preservers.”
Her breathless giggle made my chest hurt. The devil in me caused me to lean forward and whisper in her ear, “Your breasts are beautiful the way they are. I’d love to feel them against me.”

The pulse at the base of her neck sped up as I ran my tongue along the edge of her ear. I knew I was setting myself up for a sexual harassment suit, but the scent of her arousal was driving me crazy and I found I wanted a taste of her. I relaxed my arm until my chest pressed tight against her.

“Mr. Anderson,” she said softly with a hesitant touch to her voice.

“Yes, Ms. Van Poppel?” I trailed my lips down to the sensitive spot behind her ear.

“This isn’t a good idea.”

She didn’t sound convinced, so I took that as a message she wanted me to continue. Hell, if she told me no I would have stopped. I’m not into forcing women for anything. I didn’t want to neglect her other ear, so I switched sides.

“You’re right. It probably isn’t a good idea, but why not take a chance? Who knows? It might be the greatest idea either of us has ever had.”

She flushed and her hand came up to my chest with a tentative touch. My own breath caught when the tips of her fingers barely ran over my nipple. She tilted her head to allow me better access and that was it. My cock was alert and eager to get a piece of her. I keep my hips back. I didn’t want to shock her into realizing what she was letting me do.

I slipped my other hand into her hair and cradled the back of her head. I angled her so I lick the fluttering skin at the base of her neck. Her skin was smooth and salty. The heat our bodies produced caused her to glow with desire. I put a little more of my weight on her and felt her hard nipples poke my pecs.

Grazing her neck with my teeth, I felt a shudder work its way over her body. I never could fight temptation. Placing my mouth over the small piece of skin, I sucked on it. She gasped and both her hands came up to grasp my shoulders. I wanted to leave my mark on her. A bolt of lust ripped through at the thought of other men seeing a sign that she was mine. It almost got the best of me. I never wanted to do that before. Possessiveness wasn’t in my make-up. I guess you could say I had always been a love-‘em and leave-‘em kind of guy, but there was something in the feel of her against my body that cried to my most primal side and I didn’t want any other man to kiss her.

“Mr. Anderson, kiss me,” she pleaded.

That was what I had been listening for all along. I released her skin with a soft pop and moved up to her mouth. As our lips touched for the first time, the only thought that raced through my head was I’m so screwed.

Starting out November

This is the week for the Pro Bull Riders finals in Las Vegas. Here we have a picture of Justin McBride. He's leading the overall standing for World Champion. :) He's just too cute. lol

Wings played last night and won. HOUSE, M.D. was awesome as usual. But enough of what I did last night instead of writing.

Acutally I got started on Christian's story with the prologue and the last couple of scenes for the entire story. I also got a middle scene written. Just need to take the time and put it all together. I didn't do any writing on HEAVEN & HELL, but I plan on working on that one tonight. Along with whatever else pops into my mind.

Oh, on November 14th at 9:30 pm, my fellow Faerie Tale authors and I are having a chat at The Romance Book Club. Come join us. Also, FALLEN: DANIELLE will be out that day. Woo-hoo!

New Contract

This is Jiri Fischer of the Detroit Red Wings. He's a defense man. :) Yummy! lol There's a Wings game on tonight, so I'll be watching it in between my writing.

Well, that proposal I sent off got contracted. First time I ever got a contract for a book I have yet to write. I've written it done on my own personal calendar for December. I plan on getting it written way earlier than it needs to be. Just in case real life comes and kicks my butt again. :)

I finished Sympathy for the Devil at 26k words...about 4k more than I had planned. I stuck realtively close to the synopsis I wrote up, but two new characters made an appearance. Jumped right into A Sense of Balance (Vol.4 of THE VEIL: HEAVEN & HELL). Things are going well with that, though I left my main characters in the shower in the middle of a love scene. Mean lady that I am. I hope they don't get pruney while I work on something else for the moment. lol

Also, I'll be starting FALLEN: CHRISTIAN this month. Hoping to finish it by the end of the month...but we'll have to see. Christian makes an appearance in Danielle's story (which will be out on November 14th) and Lucifer has a big part in this story as well. If I write his character right, you'll all love to hate him, but also see there's more to him than the evil creature we've been led to believe he is. :)

Gone to a hockey game

A bunch of us are heading down to Joe Louis Arena to see catch the Wings' game with the Chicago Blackhawks. :) Finally, a hockey game.

I'm not sure how many more words I have to write to reach my goal of 22k for the third volume in THE VEIL series, but I'm edging closer to the finish line for that story. Maybe by the end of the weekend, I'll get it finished.

I hope so because I plan on starting FALLEN: CHRISTIAN, even if I'm not done with HEAVEN & HELL.

I also sent in a proposal for a Day of the Dead story. It would be released next year of course. :) Now, I'm biting my nails waiting to hear about that one. It'll be a ghost story (what other story would I write when it takes place during the Day of the Dead celebrations?)

Gotta go. Maybe I'll get something written on the way down to the game...hmmm...not sure since I get car sick..lol

I can't believe we're so close to the end of October. Where did the year go? Soon we'll be into December and Christmas. I have no idea what I'm getting anyone for Christmas. Yikes. Usually I have ideas and might have even started my shopping, but this year, I'm way behind. :(

Woo-Hoo! Just in time for Halloween...my new book, THE VEIL: ANGELS & DEMONS is going to be released some time today from Loose-Id. This one is a little edgier. Here's the blurb:

Kalan’s on his first solo mission for the Host of Heaven, but to his shock and disgust, he has to work with a half demon half mortal woman. Beltaine’s take charge attitude rubs him the wrong way, but her lush curves and kissable mouth drives his body to distraction.

If lust brings two opposites together, can love and trust grow between them? Will they find the man who wants a war with the Devil and stop him before Heaven unleashes its fury?

How's it sound? Beltaine was a treat to write about. She's got a lot of attitude and doesn't take any crap from anyone. :) Kalan is rather unsure what to do with her, but she shows him rather quickly what he can do with her....lol.

I'm working on Vol. 3&4 right now. Just about finished with Vol. 3- SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL. Then jumping feet first into Vol. 4- A SENSE OF BALANCE. Don't want there to be too big a wait between books.

It's not up yet at Loose-Id, but at some time today, it's supposed to be available. I'm excited about it. I can't believe that I've had a book come out in Sept and October. Should my long term goal be to have a book released each month? Wow...I'd better get writing...lol

Still Plugging Away

I'm still working on The Veil: Heaven & Hell. I was hoping to be well into the fourth volume, A SENSE OF BALANCE by this time, but this entire month has conspired against me. I'm getting close to finishing the third volume, SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL. Thank goodness, I'm not under any sort of deadline except my own for this.

My dh goes into the hospital again tomorrow for his fourth surgery to get pins put back in to stablize his joint. Hopefully, the infection won't set in again. Yikes!

My book, THE VEIL: ANGELS & DEMONS comes out this week on the 26th at Loose-Id. I've gotten some nice advance comments about it from a few other LID authors, so I'm hoping it'll be a great success. That way LID will want to pick up a few other stories I have floating around my mind just for them. :) I'll post an excerpt on Wednesday from A&D for you all.

I've gotten two drafts of the cover for SACKING THE QUARTERBACK, my late Jan. release from LSB. We're getting closer to what I wanted. As soon as I get a finished one, I'll post it.

Good news...the Lions won their game. Whew! The whole team has been a huge disappointment from the beginning. But hey, the Red Wings are awesome this year, so I'm not complaining. (not much anyway!)

Did it again

Sorry everyone (or the two people who actually read this blog...lol) Real life grabbed me by the ankles these past couple of weeks and shook me so hard, my teeth rattled.

I might have mentioned earlier that my dh went and got joint replacement surgery on his finger. Then a week later, he had to go and get pins put in to stablize the joint. Last week, we got a 'doing great' from the doctor.

Well, on Sunday, the area around one of the pins became infected. So we ended up in the emergancy room at 11 that night. Early the next morning, we were on our way down to Ann Arbor where my dh had the first two surgeries. They tried to remove the pins at the office. NO dice. The pain was too bad. They called over to the hospital. The OR had a slot opened and we rushed over there.

Two hours later, the pins were removed and he was recovering. Then he was informed that he would be staying in the hospital until Friday when they would insert a center line for liquid antibotics and he would returning to have a fourth surgery on Monday to try and stablize the joint again.

Now I realize that being able to use all your fingers is important, but is it as important as subjecting the rest of your body to the hell of surgery? Not sure, but it's not my body. All I can do is support him.

Needless to say, I'm a little behind on my self-imposed schedule. I had hoped to be over half way finished with THE VEIL: HEAVEN & HELL by now, but that isn't happening. Though I was able to do some writing Monday and yesterday. I also finished the final line edits on THE VEIL: ANGELS & DEMONS and the final edits on FALLEN: DANIELLE. So I'm happy in a way.

I thought maybe Viggo would make up for the fact that I haven't posted in a while. Enjoy him...I know I would...lol.

What A Week!

I know it's been a while since I've written anything, but I've been busy. Last Thursday, my dh had surgery to put a new knuckle in his finger. so I was at the hospital all Thursday and took care of him over the weekend as well. Then I left on Wednesday to go to a conference for my day job. My FIL took him to the hospital for his first physical therapy session. Surprise! The joint had popped out, so he ended up in surgery again yesterday. Now he has two pins screwed into the bones to stablize the joint. Those will be there for four weeks. Poor baby! Plus they cut into his palm to attach the ligaments from his finger so that they'll be tight enough to keep the joint from popping out again.

My conference went well...learned a lot of stuff about taking care of museum collections. Had fun hanging out with my co-workers.

I did edits on both Danielle and the second half of THE VEIL: ANGELS & DEMONS. Also, waiting for me when I got home was a contract for SACKING THE QUARTERBACK. Whoo-hoo! My sixth book to be contracted. :) That one won't be out until Feb, though. Since we planned for it to be a Super Bowl story.

Well, my cats and my dh need some attention, so I'm going to sign off. I'll try to keep this updated. :)

It's Out and a new Cover

Well, A FAERIE TALE has come out at Liquid Silver yesterday. :) My fourth book in a year since Fallen: Celeste came out the last week in September last year. Wow. Four books, I can't believe it. My fifth book will be out next month and my sixth one has been contracted as well. I'm on my way to seeing my dream come true. Welll, actually, my dream did come true when I received the email telling me that LSB wanted to publish Celeste and the dreams have just been building since then.

Cover Model Rescue Team....Rescuing One Hot Man at a Time.

A Faerie Tale anthology

Here's the cover for A Faerie Tale. (cover art by April Martinez) It'll be released next Monday. I can't wait for people to read this one. The tale of four faerie sisters who are sent to the four corners of the world to find love and save the world. My heroine is the one in the back, purple wings and burgundy body. :) The Faerie of Song.

Her hero is Cyno Wellington. He's a cryptozoologist and since there are three objectives that any cryptozoologist might look for. I'm pretty sure readers can expect two more books with a crypto as a main character. lol Since I can't even write a short story without having at least one sequel in mind...lol.

I worked with Fabiano Fabris on my cover for DANIELLE. He's done all of the Fallen covers so far and he does an awesome job. As soon as it's done and turned in, I'll post it here and on my website. Woo-Hoo! This is a different type of Fallen story. You learn more about the fallen and what they can do. With a cameo by Lucifer himself. Just to whet your appetite because Lucifer plays a bigger role in Christian's story which is the next book in the series. If you read it, you'll have to let me know what you think of turning Lucifer into a hero of his own story. I have ideas for it, but I want to make sure people would like to read it. :)

THE VEIL: HEAVEN & HELL is coming along. I have the synopsis finished. Now I can get back to the actual story and get that done. Still at 5k for the story, but the synopsis is 2k, so I'm doing some work. :)

My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by Hurricane Rita. Please be safe and heed mandatory evacuation orders. They're there for your protection. I still send out good vibes for all those still suffering from Katrina. It'll be a long time before the South recovers from this hurricane season.

A Thing for Hugh Laurie

I'm addicted to House, M.D. that airs on Fox on Tuesday nights. Hugh Laurie is hot and an awesome actor. I became a fan of Mr. Laurie's when I was exposed to Rowan Atkinson's Black Adder series on the BBC. My husband is a huge fan of Black Adder. So I've seen every episode.

House is a great character, proving that you don't have to like a character to empathise with him. As much as you want to slap the man upside the head..that's how much you want to give him a hug. :) Laurie does a wonderful job hiding his British accent.

Maybe as a treat to myself, I'll go and buy the first Season of House.

Great news. A FAERIE TALE will be released next Monday, Sept. 26th at Liquid Silver Books. Christmas in September

Okay...I understand Christmas in July. But things have gotten out of hand now. I was in JoAnne's yesterday, picking up a picture and they have Christmas stuff out all ready. Totally crazy. Someone has forgotten there's at least two holidays to celebrate before Christmas. Both of them are pagan celebrations. Halloween and Thanksgiving (the Pilgrims didn't have Thanksgiving. The Native Americans had a type of celebration commerating the harvest. We stole it from them...lol)

They're fun holidays. Lots of candy and food. Football and parties. What are we missing by skipping them to start worry about Christmas so early? Has anyone started their Christmas shopping all ready? Not me. I'll start at the beginning of December and hope I get everything by the time Christmas Eve rolls around. :)

Oh and what was I thinking? Christmas is a pagan holiday as well. Jesus wasn't born in December, but to bring the pagans into the fold, the Christians decided to make his birthday close to the Winter solistce.

Soon Christmas decorations will out the week after Easter. :)

Football Season Is Here Again

Okay...so officially the football season started last weekend. I'm just a little late. Saturday and Sunday, I enjoyed my husband screaming at the tv about the coach and the play calling. Okay...you know and I know that the people on the tv can't hear us, but that doesn't seem to matter much to my husband. I ignored him and tried to enjoy the games. I don't have favorite teams. I root for both and hope for a good close game. :)

I'll be starting edits soon on Danielle's story and the cover art is being worked on as we speak. (Well, technically not right at this moment and we're not really talking...lol)

THE VEIL: HEAVEN & HELL is at 5k words. Only 20k more for the first part of it. Woo-hoo! lol Been working on a couple other stories as well. But I'm ahead of my own self-imposed schedule, so that's okay.

Working on booking accomendations for the RT convention down in Daytona next year. Guess I should register for that as well...lol.

This year's RT was a blast. My first time and I was nervous as heck, trying to figure out who everyone was, meeting new people and having my first official book signing. Everything went well and I made new friends. :)

Now I'm an old pro at this and get to help the newbie authors around...lol

Back To Work

I've been sick the past couple of days, but it hasn't stopped me from writing...lol. I doubt anything could do that...not even a broken arm. I'd just get a little tape recorder and dictate my stories. :)

BREAKING NEWS: Fallen: Danielle has been contracted by Liquid Silver. I've signed on the dotted line and mailed it out today. Woo-Hoo! Also, we should know by the weekend when A FAERIE TALE anthology is scheduled for release.

I've been working on THE VEIL: HEAVEN & HELL. I've got 2k typed in so far and probably another 1k written out in long hand. As Paige says, I'm the long hand queen. I don't know...I just like writing in a journal and since I'm addicted to pens...I like to use them...lol

With Danielle being contracted, I have three published stories and three that have been contracted. :) So all together I have six since my first story, FALLEN: CELESTE came out...it might be seven soon since I sent in SACKING THE QUARTERBACK to LSB this week. :) Keep your fingers crossed.

Remember when?

Remember when...as Americans, we believed we were safe from terrorists attacks?
Remember when....terrorist attacks were things that happened over there?

Remember the day all those beliefs were destroyed?

The fourth anniversary of 9/11 is upon us today and we take a moment to remember everyone whose lives changed forever that day. Not only those who died, but their loved ones, the rescue workers who did their job and an entire nation whose sense of security disappeared in a matter of minutes.

Yet here we are, dealing with another disaster. This one wrought by the hands of Mother Nature and the hands of man. The people whose lives changed forever on Sept 1, 2005 are suffering and need our prayers.

Both groups still need our prayers and thoughts as the years go by. Both will be marked forever by these events and September will never be looked upon the same way. And we'll all be singing Green Day's song "Wake Me When September Ends"

Whew! Sacking The Quarterback is done and in the hands of my very lucky CP...lol. Well, I might be stretching the truth there a little. Since I've managed to inudate her with two stories this week. The other one is a very short story called THE JOURNEY OF BELLA NIGHT: Episode One: Saving Zev. It's my own little twist on were-wolves.

My publisher, Loose-Id, is working on putting together a blog of short stories to benefit Hurricane relief. I'll let everyone know more details as I get them, but that's what the Bella Night story is for.

Now it's on to part three and four of my VEIL series. THE VEIL: ANGELS & DEMONS which is scheduled for release from Loose-Id in October contains two stories...BELTAINE'S ANGEL and KALAN'S DEMON. The next one THE VEIL: HEAVEN & HELL (working title) will contain two more stories....SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL and A SENSE OF BALANCE.

Happy Labor Day

I hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day. I got up early this morning and went out to write on my front porch. Lovely time...peace and quiet. Well almost quiet...my cats sat inside and whined at me through the window. Oh well.

It looks like they've managed to stop the madness in New Orleans. Now they can focus on the recovery and reconstruction of the city. I do hope they rebuilt...maybe not in the same spot, but New Orleans must rise again and be the wonderfully entertaining city it once was. But this time, there needs to be better plans in place.

I'm still working on StQ. It's at 24,010 words..only need about 6-7k more and I'll be done. But I interrupted the story again to write a short story for Loose-Id. The people at Loose-Id are putting together something to help raise money for relief efforts. Great idea and I love my story line. :) I hope everyone else does as well. I think readers will like Bella Night and her interesting life. ;)

Where Are You, Superman?

As I watch an event unfolding that has never been seen in America before-the total destruction of a major city, I begin to wonder where is Superman? Where is the Terminator? Where is Will Smith's character from Independence Day or even Bill Pullman's? Events like these happen in movies all the time and there is always a super hero around who manages to save the day. But where is the hero that's going to go and save New Orleans?

Wait a minute....there are heroes already there. Policemen whose own homes have been destroyed and whose own families are in danger. Firefighters doing what they can to save people. National Guardsmen standing in the line of fire, knowing that as more destruction happens and more people become angry, their lives could be forfeit to the madness and fear. Doctors and nurses trying to save their patients without food, water or electricity. Rescue teams from around the country risking their lives to save others. Coast Guard pilots and rescuers giving it their all.

Yet in despair, we realize that it isn't enough. The heroes can't save everyone. They can't push back the water. They can't put out the fires. The heroes can't stop the anchary of those who will take advantage of this disaster. For there are people in New Orleans who don't want to be saved. They want to take what they can and destroy what they can. They want power to take life or give it. They are angry, but at who or what? We can't say. They will kill those very people who long to save them. Those very people who will be racked with guilt when they have to leave, knowing there were some they couldn't save.

I've been working on my stories, yet in the back of my mind, I can't help thinking how unimportant they are in the larger scheme of things.

SACKING THE QUARTERBACK is 21k so far...only about 10k more to get written and I can turn it in. :)

Send prayers and thoughts of strength to the people of the Gulf Coast who must endure this. Also, surround the rescue workers, National Guardsmen and the other heroes down in New Orleans. May God keep them all in his hands.

Break down of Civilization

Watching the news reports coming out of the hurricane ravaged Gulf coast, one begins to see the break down of civilization. The fear of what will happen in the next several days as the water stagnates and conditions get worse has overwhelmed the normal inhabitions of the people. I'm sure there are more good things happening than bad, but the news doesn't get the ratings by talking about the good.

Shots being fired...people looting and taking things that won't help them now....cizitens of the greatest government in the world wondering where that government is...where is the help they need right now? The total breakdown of the infrastructure of the local governments has hampered things so severely down there.

Yet good things are happening. We might not be able to see them through all the destruction, but help is coming. The rest of the country is on their way to help-phsyically and financially.

There is shock that a great city like New Orleans lies under water now. Yet, it was bound to happen. Mother Nature has a way of mocking us at every turn and nature has a way of taking back what we've taken from it. So we are left with the aftermath of mythic proportions.

Prayers and thoughts go out to the people who will not see their homes in months. Some will never be able to return. How do you rebuild? How do you find the courage and the strength to go on from an event so horrific? They will find a way. And our Gulf coast will be rebuild...maybe not as it once was, but hopefully better.

Huffing 'n Puffing

My prayers and thoughts are with everyone down in the south tonight and tomorrow. Hurricane Katrina might be the hurricane everyone was hoping would never arrive.

On other news, Danielle is done and handed into my publisher, so it's back to work on Sacking The Quarterback. That should be finished by the middle of Sept. :) 19,809 words so far.

Went to see THE BROTHERS GRIMM yesterday with Matt Damon and Heath Ledger...actually they were starring in the movie..lol...I went to see the movie with a friend. Great movie...a little gruesome, but hilarious. It was great that the director didn't make them into superheroes who knew how to solve the problems right away. :)

Back to watching the Weather Channel.

Can't stop the madness

So I had planned on taking a few days off...do a little editing and maybe catch a movie or two before I plunged back into writing. That was a good plan while it lasted all of thirty seconds...lol.

The minute I hit the send button to email Danielle off to my CP, I picked up a pen and paper to work on SACKING THE QUARTERBACK, a story I'm writing for release around the Super Bowl next year. I'm at 17k and I need 30k-35k to be able to hand it in. :) No problem.

Here I am...writing my fingers to the bone to satisfy all the voices in my head demanding their stories be told. :) Ah..the life of a writer.

Let It Go

Okay...I was hoping that after Armstrong retired, we had heard the last of the doping scandal, but obviously there are still people so upset with the fact that he's dominated one of the toughest races in sports for seven years. All I can say is...People, let it go. It's been six years and it won't change anything except vindicate all of you who said there's no way Armstrong could do that.

Give it up. I'm suspicious of a newspaper that has for years badgered and complained about Armstrong suddenly saying they have matched up numbers on samples that were supposed to be anymonous. It still smells of a witch hunt to me. If it had been anyone other than Armstrong who won it seven years in a row, would you all be crying 'doping'? I very much doubt it.

Ultimately in the end, those who are cowardly and hateful will smear the reputation of a man who's survived far worse than spiteful people with a vendetta. Lance Armstrong has survived cancer and no one can ever convince me that his heart and body needs help from performance-enhancing drugs to win a race. He's already won the toughest race any of us could ever fight. He's won the war with death.

Fallen: Danielle is Done

I just wrote THE END at the bottom of my story. Fallen: Danielle has come in at a whopping 50k...only sixteen words short of 51k. I'm sure I could have added them somewhere to make it an even 51k, but I didn't want it to seem like I'm filling space. lol

Danielle got her archaeologist and the day has been saved. An enticing look at my next fallen, Christian and a brief cameo by Lucifer, the fallen angel everyone loves to hate. :)

Now my CP gets it to edit and read for me, then it's on to my publisher. Hopefully there'll be good news soon. :)

Bumper Stickers

I was thinking about bumper stickers this morning on my way to work. Why do people put certain things on their vehicles and what do those stickers say about their personality? When are they going to come up with magnetic ones that you change with your mood? That would be great. You'd be able to tell which cars to avoid because they're pissed off, pmsing or just bascily mean people.

I have two bumper stickers I'd love to put on my vehicle. They say more about my beliefs than any particular mood. One is: I'm Straight, Not Narrow. And the other is: I'm For Seperation of Church and Hate. Perfect.

What sort of bumper stickers do you see and like? Or don't like?

I had a great weekend writing...got 8k done and I'm over 40k for the entire story. The end is in sight. Not sure how much more needs to be written, but I'm in the homestretch. So Danielle's story might be finished this week. YAY!

Addiction

There are some terrible things to be addicted to like drugs, alcohol and gambling. Then there are things that make life easier. My dh is addicted to golf. He's played every day this week so far. He'd go play today if we weren't having friends over for dinner. I'm not unhappy about this addiction. It's exercise and getting him outside in the fresh air...though he is beginning to resemble a ripe tomato with his sunburns. :) Also, on the days I don't go with him (I walk the course with him...my way of getting exercise until we can get me a set of clubs), I can get alot written.

The sad thing is it's cheaper now for my dh to play a round of golf at some of the courses than it is for a tank of gas. Amazing and shocking.

I'm up to 28k on Danielle's story and there's no end in sight yet. (Actually there is...I have the ending written already. I'm just not sure how she's going to get there.) My goal is 2k a day...which I've been able to make or get close to the last couple of weeks. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep it up. :)

Mashed Potatoes

I heard that MacDonald's uses instant potatoes to make their shakes thicker. I don't care. I love instant potatoes even more than real. :)

Anyway, that was my tangent for the day since I'm typing this in while sipping on a shake from McD's.

I was working at my DJ and actually not getting much done. In fact, I was wasting some time when I was paged to take in a donation. Do you know how put out I was that I had to interupt my goof off time to go and do my actual job? How dare they stop me?

I guess I shouldn't complain, right? They pay me to work for them. And most of the time, I'm good and do what I'm supposed to, but there are days when I think about what I have to do and rebel. I'll do what I want to and no one can stop me...lol...yeah right.

I got another 1k done on my Fallen story. Woo-hoo! That much closer to sending it in. :)

Drag queens and Fallen angels

Interesting title, huh? Well, those are characters in my wips. One is Danielle, the heroine in my fourth Fallen book that I'm working diligently on. :) I think I'm about halfway through it and hoping to have it done by the end of August or Sept at the very latest.

I'm also halfway through my football story. That should be done by the end of August as well, but it has to be done by Sept 30th. No later...lol..that one's okay though I did leave my h/h in the midst of making love. Oh well, couldn't be helped.

I started writing scenes down for a m/m story...with drag queens as secondary characters. It's interesting and I hope I do them justice. This story is an experiment for me to try and write something different. :)

Relay For Life

Tomorrow, I break out my walking shoes and will be at my county's Relay For Life event. It's to help raise money and awareness for Cancer research. My mom is a breast cancer survivor, so I'm doing this for her.

So, I'll be taking tomorrow off from writing and get some exercise. Woo-hoo! I'm going to have to rest up on Sunday.

First pre-season football game is tonight for the team my dh roots for. Me, I don't care what team's playing, I just want to see some football. :)

Take care and remember all those cancer survivors, those we've lost to cancer and those who are fighting cancer now.

Tattoos

I was watching Miami Ink last night on TLC and started wondering about tattoos. One lady on there got a pirate ship on her side from her waist to the bottom of her breast. She sat for three hours while the artist inked it for her. Why, I ask myself, would anyone get that big of tattoo on their body? *I'm not about to ask why anyone would get one. I have one on my right shoulder*

I'm trying to decide if I want another one and where I want to put it. There's only so much room on my back for pictures. lol The history of tattoos and ink work is amazing. For so many cultures, tattoos have meaning. Look at The Rock whose inkings have meaning to him about his family and heritage. Others just like the way they look.

The tattoo artist is truly an artist. They can draw and design images that are absolutely awe-inspiring.

My fascination with tattoos might be why each of the fallen angels in my series has a tattoo on their body respresenting something meaningful to them.

I knew I probably wouldn't keep up with this. I couldn't keep journals as a kid to save my life. Oh well. Here I am again, ready to update everyone.

Our a/c did get fixed..a week before we moved to our new house. Woo-hoo! The new place has a/c and it's been nice since we've been so hot around here.

I've been writing up a storm. Between my next Fallen book, Danielle and a novella about a former football player, I haven't had time for much of anything. But things are flying on Danielle's story and I'll be back to work on Sacking the Quarterback soon. :)

Hey, the NHL is back in business. Thank goodness. There truly is nothing on after football season is over with. Even fishing shows start to look good after a while. But football pre-season has already started and I'll be eagerly waiting for hockey to start again.

That's enough chatting for today. I'll try to do better from now on and update this thing more often.

Okay...I'm hot. Our a/c has broken and it's warmer in here than it is outside. Yuck! Thank goodness we only have two more weeks in this place. Oh, guess what! We'll be signing our lives away on Thursday for the house. Ya!

I've gotten into the groove and am only one scene away from finishing my newest story. I'm sure that will thrill my editor to no end. My angel and demon are halfway to completing their mission and they can't keep their hands off each other. Woo-hoo! lol

Oh, I read a book over the weekend, Tempering by Sean Michael. I'll get all of the warnings out of the way first. If you don't like male/male sex scenes or three way male/male sex scenes than this isn't the book for you. It's mostly sex between the three characters, but it's also about dealing with prejudice and the fall-out from that same narrow mindness that drives people to live very unhappy lives. It was heart breaking and uplifting at the same time. :)

Enough wasting time. I'm off to finish my story and sending it out to people to read for me before my editor gets it.

Rodeo

I admit that I'm a hick. My dh tells me that all the time as we sit listening to Big & Rich and other country singers. :) There's just something about going to a rodeo and watching good looking men in tight jeans riding bulls. Stirs the imagination among other things...lol Some day I plan on writing a story about good looking cowboys who ride other things than bulls.

So we're going to the rodeo tonight and I'm going to try and not drool all over the cowboys.

The good news is I'm a thousand words closer to finishing my story....but again, I'm finding tons of other things to waste time on. Oh well, my angel and demon will just have to find ways to entertain themselves until I get back to them and finish the climax. ;)

Why?

I told myself I'd never have a blog. For no other reason then I couldn't believe anyone would want to know what I had to say. Tonight as I sit before my computer, I realized a blog is a beautiful thing. It allows me the chance to waste time. Time I should be spending finishing up a story for one of my editors.

Instead here I am...talking about wasting time. Now is a blog a better time waster than playing fetch with my cat? (Yes, I think I have a dog in a cat's body because Digby is addicted to playing fetch) It might not be, but it will work for now.

I got good news today. After struggling for a month, we finally got a closing date on our new house. Next week, I'll be the proud owner of my very first house. Now comes the trails and tribulations of packing all of our crap and moving.

Oh well...maybe I can hide behind my deadlines as an excuse not to pack anything.
